Swimming pools and the Corona virus

Now is the time to use your swimming pool! It is great for the kids as it breaks the indoor blues, while also providing exercise. There is minimal risk with the virus around the swimming pool area. According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control) COVID- 19 is killed by the normal chlorination of swimming pools! At this time keeping up with the pool chemicals is important. A pool maintenance technician is aware of their exposure to the virus and is mindful of taking it to the backyard. Crews limit exposure, when visiting pools, by minimizing visits to common areas such as convenience stores. The tech is as concerned as the home owner about the virus. Some techs carry their own food and water to further reduce the risk. When the tech is actually in the backyard, after putting their hands into the water, they become sanitized as the chlorine kills the virus. So, techs are virus free as they put their hands in chlorinated water 8-12 times per day!

Some families use the pool in shifts. They co-ordinate which family group will swim at what time. There is a schedule so that daughters and grand kids, sons and grand kids, can use the pool. Times are adjusted so there is only one family group at a time is at the home swimming.
